Home Building Remained Strong through Last Year

One UK home builder is carrying on and giving little attention to the notion that there is currently a slowdown taking place within the UK housing market. The builder Crest Nicholson has reported an almost 20% increase in project completions during the year 2014, but gives little credence to the possibility of slower times during the coming months. Crest is a builder which is focused on home building in the south of England. There is currently a surge in new expensive home building in London. This surge is increasing property prices and negating possible profit share for builders.

The CEO of Crest, Steven Stone, is optimistic about taking advantage of opportunities through the coming year, regardless of the current trend in London. The company is confident it can grow total revenue for the period of 2013-2016 upwards of 70 to 80%.

Stone commented, saying: “Crest Nicholson enters 2015 in a strong position and we are encouraged by the strong start to the year.”

He added: “As we grow towards our natural scale, with good visibility and a strong start to January sales, we maintain our southern focus and commitment to building high quality homes where people want to live.”

Many economists have estimated growth within the UK housing market in general will be moderate, but still finish in positive growth at year end. House prices are supposed to increase by a subdued 5%.

This year remains a strong year to consider a remortgage, according to experts. Currently, cheap deals remain on the table for home owners due to heavy competition among lenders.
