Remortgage Decision often Results in Fewer Days of Stress and Anxiety

The decision to remortgage is sometimes not an easy one. This is not a simple choice which will not affect us in some way over the next three years. It is a choice which is determined with hours of research and discussion followed by more analysis and even more discussion. It can be stressful for many and lead to anxiety. It is a big decision. However, many homeowners have found a path to less stress and anxiety by transitioning to a fixed rate mortgage and never looking back.

After potentially weeks of analysing and fact checking, many house owners are discovering the benefits of a remortgage. This is ultimately leading to fewer days filled with anxiety and stress over the family finances. It is providing security and a sense of control to a future which is often labeled as uncertain.

Many lenders are currently offering strong fixed deals to fit most financial situations. With September and October seeing more than £35bn in mortgage lending hitting maturity, a remortgage could be the answer to a big question. What should I do with the mortgage this autumn? The answer could be easier than most people think.

Housing experts are calling this time quite nearly perfect and are urging homeowners to consider a remortgage before interest rates go up.

Andy Knee, chief executive of LMS, commented: “We are seeing a significant change in consumer behaviour when remortgaging. Typically, over the last year, people were remortgaging to save on their monthly repayments or borrow additional funds. Instead, with rates low and expectations of a rate rise high, people are fixing for longer for added financial security. Borrowers are taking shelter from future rate rises and preparing for potentially turbulent times to come.”
