Significant Data Regarding UK Housing Market Confirms Strong Summer Season

The UK housing market had another reminder surface today regarding the strength of the summer selling season and other noteworthy fundamental data posting at high levels. Online real estate site Rightmove has experienced 20% growth since the beginning of the year, as the number of visitors to its site has exploded. Property estate agent Foxtons, which specialises in London property and house builder Taylor Wimpey are also seeing surges in activity fueled by continued high levels of consumer confidence and extremely low mortgage rates.

The number of visitors to the Rightmove website has blossomed to more than 100 million per month, as the corresponding number of leads for estate agents now averages more than 4.1 million per month.

The amount of activity has taken off since the end of the general election, with even more activity predicted through at least the end of the summer selling season, according to industry experts.

Nick McKittrick, chief executive of Rightmove, commented on the current state of visitors coming to the website, saying: “Our share of traffic amongst the top four property websites has increased significantly as more people search and research the only place with over one million properties for sale and to rent in the UK.”

The UK remortgage market is now quite busy with activity thanks to many house owners taking advantage of super low mortgage rates and continued competition among lenders looking to assist those wanting a lower mortgage payment each month. The recent news out of the Bank of England regarding the possible increase in the base rate by the end of the year has many house owners acting now to avoid the inevitable increases which will take place after the rate changes.
