UK House Prices Set to be Challenging for New Home Buyers in Future

UK house prices have been on an upward trend for months and the momentum looks to continue, according to many close to the market. A high amount of demand for housing of all types has become the norm for all practical purposes. This demand places upward pressure on prices fueling them to rise month after month. Not only are for let prices constantly rising, but pricing for stand-alone houses is also rising without relief.

The latest data is proving to be noteworthy for what is expected of housing prices in the future. Many experts agree the peak of house prices within the next sixteen years is shocking. For those looking to purchase property of any kind in the coming years, the prospect is daunting if not completely overwhelming. Remortgage activity will stand strong despite fluctuations in the cost of housing, but many house owners will take advantage of the benefits of remortgages over time.

The Lib Dems party leader, Tim Farron, commented on the possibilities surrounding young people looking too own a house in the future, saying: "Everyone deserves a decent home to call their own.”

Farron added: "The aspirational and entrepreneurial classes are seeing the ladder of home ownership kicked away from under them. The government's schemes are merely a poor sticking plaster.”

He added: "We have laid out a plan to help. We need radical, ambitious action to deliver the homes we need. The only answers are found in big solutions – new garden cities, allowing councils to build housing stock, and bring thousands of empty homes back into use."
