UK Housing Market continues Fight Against Shortage Issue

UK housing market issues are in recovery mode and will continue to stabilise according to many experts close to the market. One of the biggest issues facing not only the market, but the overall population is a shortage of suitable housing. This issue is ongoing and will challenge the government for some time to come. Scotland however is experiencing the opposite effect with house builder Barratt, who is currently overwhelmed with building new homes.

The well-known house builder has seen little change in demand for house building since the Brexit vote. It completed more than 1,500 homes in Scotland during the first half of this year which is an increase of 15% over the same period last year.

The UK is making efforts to build more homes and complete more than 200,000 homes per year. This is the figure which has been estimated to prevent a true crisis by the year 2020.

As a shortage issue continues, other sectors within the market are making strides at recovery since the June referendum. One of those sectors striving ahead is the remortgage sector. A cut to the base rate has led many house owners to take advantage of the benefits of a remortgage.

A remortgage is the choice of many house owners to improve the bottom line of the household financial page. House owners who were sitting on the fence prior to the June vote are now moving forward with a remortgage.

Not only are house owners seeing a significant decrease in monthly mortgage cost, but they are also seeing the value in gaining access to home equity through the process.
