What is to Become of the UK Housing Market as the Battle of Brexit Continues

The housing market had been watched carefully before the financial crisis, during the recession, after the recession ended, and while under the shadow of Brexit. It matters what the housing market does or doesn’t do. The UK economy is dependent on a steady market and a strong one is even better. Now the watch is on how the housing market will close out this year and what that means for home buyers and homeowners.

There had been an expectation that the housing market would falter under the clouds of Brexit. Yet it remained resilient. Hopeful home buyers took advantage of the opportunities that such an uncertainty offered. There were low interest rates, Help to Buy was still available, and home sellers became more assertive to connect with buyers.

Because home buyers chose to look past pessimistic forecasts for the housing market and the economy, and instead look toward their own needs and personal goals, the housing market held its own. It lost its momentum and house prices did decline, but the more affordable housing market only brought in more hopefuls to climb onto the property ladder.

Leading up to the deadline for Brexit the housing market stumbled, only to have Brexit postponed and the housing market to continue on pushing forward with small gains and losses, but none as drastic as had worried some experts.

Now new changes are on the horizon and while there will be many interpretations of what could be or what gains or losses in the housing market or economy may occur in the future, perhaps there are still opportunities to be had and enough hopeful home buyers to take advantage throughout the final months of 2019.
